Laker bandwagon makes turn on panic street....

It always seems to happen. The Lakers lose a game they shouldn't and it's time to blow up the team. Such is last night's disheartening loss in game 2 of the Western Conference finals. It was a game the Lakers should have had after leading by 14 early in the 2nd. But 30 free throws later between Billups and Melo turned this into a 2 point Denver victory.

But in the spirit of panic, and in the interest of my sanity, I've decided to play along. Assuming game 2 was the cliff, and today was the valley floor - here are my solutions to correcting the mistakes from last night so that NEXT year we can win the title.

Step 1 - Don't sign Lamar Odom, and use his salary space to sign unrestricted free agent Ron Artest.

Step 2 - Bring Fisher off the bench, allowing Farmar to start. That would leave a starting line up of:
Farmar
Bryant
Artest
Gasol
Bynum

Step 3 - Trade Sasha for a mid-round 2009 draft pick to grab Ellington out of North Carolina - a LETHAL shooter.

That would leave a bench mob of:
Fisher
Ariza
Walton
Brown
Ellington
and DJ

Step 4 - Change the uniform colors to black and gold during all playoff games. The gold and purple doesn't look tough enough.

So with these changes the Lakers will not win 60 games next year, but they will win the championship.

Ahhh that felt good.
